This week in disability and inclusion class, we have learned about creative activities such as art and creative art accommodations.

Art

Like outdoor activities, art has various options such as music, theatre, arts and crafts, sculpting, photography, creative writing, and poetry. There are 3 levels of art, and they include:

  1.  The Perceiver
  2.  The Performer
  3.  The Creator

There are many ways to participate in any level of art, such as:

  • Self discovery
  • Communication
  • Improved self-concept
  • Skill development
  • Societal recognition and awareness
  • Social interactions

Many programs exist today that encourage persons with disabilities to participate. The article below demonstrates the possibilities and positive benefits for people participating in just one area of the arts: music.
